Recommendations for your daily skincare routine

Cleanse and tone

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

  • am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
  • pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DERMOPURE Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside acne medication as it can make skin more sensitive. If you like the refreshing feel of a toner try the alcohol-free Eucerin DERMOPURE Micellar Water instead.

Care

The care product you use depends on the severity of your acne and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for acne, Eucerin DERMOPURE Adjunctive Soothing Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderate acne, but are not undergoing medical acne treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DERMOPURE Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical acne treatment and should be used once a day only ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Sun protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and acne medications can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF30 and SPF50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical acne treatment wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

Concealer and make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

FAQ (11)

  • Is toner good for oily skin?

Yes, people with oily skin can use toners. Certain face toners, like Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner, are specially created for people with oily, acne, and blemish-prone skin. They are formulated with ingredients that help control oil production.

  • Why does Eucerin DermoPurifyer Toner contain alcohol?

Alcohol has proved its worth as an effective ingredient. It kills bacteria, reduces excess sebum and leave skin with a cool and pleasant astringent feeling. The concentration of alcohol used in this toner does not dry out the skin.

  • How to apply toner?

The most effective way to apply a toner is by using a cotton pad. Take a cotton pad, apply the toner to it, and then rub this cotton pad on your face and neck in an upward direction. This helps the toner to get easily absorbed into your skin.

  • I’ve previously used the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Toner. What is the difference between that and Eucerin DERMOPURE Toner?

We’ve changed the fragrance, the name and the packaging. The active ingredients in the formula remain the same.

  • I’ve been using Eucerin DermoPurifyer Toner for several days but I still have spots. What am I doing wrong?

The Eucerin DermoPurifyer range can help blemish-prone skin to recover, but you shouldn’t expect to see results overnight. The normal cycle for skin renewal takes about 28 days, and the more impurities there are in your skin, the longer it will take before you start seeing the results. Stick to your daily cleansing and care routine for at least eight weeks and you should start to see the benefits.

  • My skin feels tights after cleansing. Is this normal?

Tightness is often a sign of dry skin. If your skin feels like this it’s even more important to give it the care it needs – an intensive moisturiser that also protects skin from further moisture loss.

  • Will my acne clear up by itself as I get older?

That depends. Many people who experience adolescent acne find that their skin problems heal as they get older, but for others the problems continue to develop and evolve into adult acne. Some people have no problems with their skin when they’re young but find that acne develops at a later stage. If this happens women in particular should consult a doctor as symptoms may well be linked to hormonal imbalances.

  • What is the difference between a toner and a micellar water?

Micellar water is a cleanser, toner and make-up remover all in one intended for use when you need a quick and convenient cleansing solution. Toner is applied after using a dedicated cleanser such as Eucerin DERMOPURE Cleansing Gel and prepares skin for moisturiser and other care products. Toner is particularly suitable for oily and blemish-prone skin as it feels refreshing.

  • Does this product work against maskne (mask-induced blemishes)?

Maskne, or mascne as it’s also known, is caused by excessive heat, friction and/or pressure to the areas of your face that come into contact with your mask, and subsequently cause blemishes.

This Eucerin product is designed to reduce blemishes a gentle yet effective way.

  • How do I know if Eucerin DERMOPURE Toner is the right product for my skin?

    Use this product if …
    -  Your skin is prone to blemishes: Eucerin DERMOPURE Toner is oil-free and particularly suitable for acne-prone skin.
    - You have oily skin: Eucerin DERMOPURE Toner has been specially formulated for oily skin and contains alcohol which removes any excess oils from your skin
    - Your skin is easily irritated by shaving: Eucerin DERMOPURE Toner can be used instead of aftershave. It contains alcohol, so works similarly disinfecting and refreshing skin.

  • How do I know if I should try a different product?

Try a different product if …
    - You’re undergoing medical acne treatment: Try Eucerin DERMOPURE Micellar Water instead.
    - You’re looking for a toner for normal to combination skin: Try Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Toner.

Key Benefits of Eucerin’s Face Toner for Oily Skin

Oil Control and Matte Finish

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner is formulated with ingredients that remove excess oil while cleansing your skin. Excessive oil production causes your skin to look shinier. By controlling oil production, it helps reduce the shine and give a more matte finish to your skin. This toner helps with oil control without drying your skin.

Pore Tightening and Skin Refreshing

One of the key ingredients of Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner is Lactic Acid, which is an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and is known to tone up and exfoliate your skin. This helps tighten your pores and minimize their appearance, which reveals smooth and clear skin. The additional refreshing feel is also extremely beneficial for people with oily skin who face discomfort.

Hydrates Without Clogging Pores

Many cleansers leave your skin dry after every wash, but it is important to maintain skin’s moisture even for people with oily skin. Eucerin’s DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner has a gel-based formulation that rehydrates and restores moisture in your skin without clogging your pores. Furthermore, it unclogs your pores by removing any leftover dirt or impurities after cleansing.

Why Choose Eucerin Toner for Oily Skin?

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner offers a myriad of benefits for people with oily and acne-prone skin, as detailed above. What makes it the most suitable and one of the best toners for oily skin is its effectiveness.

Dermatologist-Tested and Gentle

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner has been dermatologically tested and proven to deliver effective results. It is gentle and does not cause any skin irritation.

Perfect for Humid Climates

The water-based toner gets absorbed easily into your skin and helps control excess oil production, making it the perfect choice for places with a humid climate like India. It cleanses your skin, leaving it smooth and refreshed without drying it.
Thus, this Lactic Acid-powered Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control Toner is your go-to toner to cleanse your skin, reduce excess sebum, unclog pores, and leave it clear and smooth.
